Sierra Llama Hike 2014

Been a while since I posted anything I guess. Facebook is all the rage but consider me old school...or just old. These pictures are of a backpack trip I took end of July/start of August with Jim Hermanson and Peter Oberg. Trail head was Twin Lakes up by Bridgeport in California. It was an approximately 60 mile loop going over Mule Pass and Burro Pass, along Matterhorn Canyon and back Kerrick Canyon. Lakes along the way were Barney, Crown, Smedberg, Rogers and Benson. Good fishing at some, others not so much. Did I mention Neall Lake and baiting Bigfoot? Perhaps in a different blog with the UFO findings.
We had 6 llamas (Ghost, Red, Black Irish, Zorro, Jr and Highlander). They were for the most part well behaved but like any animal they prefer to bask in the sun instead of getting a saddle put on and loaded down with our junk. Some of which included a three week supply of liquor....just enough for a sip now and then. We had NO injuries and everyone finished in fine form, just tired!!
Jim's son David and his two friends Travis 1 & Travis 2 (same names) met us after the end of the second week at Benson lake. They did a cross country hike only taking two days to get to where we took two weeks. Our route was longer, more scenic and we did a lot of stoppin.
Weather was everything from rain/hail to hot and sunny. Had thunder/lightning but after the drought around here it was good to see rain.
I wanted to get as many night and alpine glow pictures I could with my Nikon D600. The weather did not always cooperate and some nights just to tired to stay up for the stars... about 10:00pm. All in all it was a great hike with good friends.

Lots more pictures of the other lakes but this is all for now. May do another hike next year of 3 weeks but only going out to Sawtooth Ridge and back. Spend most the time trying to get the the perfect Sawtooth picture with lots of local hikes.
